Local mom fighting cancer, pens children's book,as legacy for children

By Krystal Brashear May 20, 2022

Stacie, husband Jeremy, who is a Sheriff's Deputy,  and their two beautiful daughters, Emily and Nicole, live in sunny south Brevard. They love going to the beach, playing board games, going to the park, and going thrift shopping.

Stacie has been a stay at home mom, a homeschooling mom, and then spent another six years as a preschool teacher.

In September 2020, life very quickly, and unexpectedly changed with some shocking and scary news. Stacie took a trip to the emergency room after breaking her back, and as if that wasn’t tough enough, things were about to get even tougher. While treating her for her broken back, the scans had shown that Stacie also had cancer, stage 4, and the cancer had already spread to her spine and throughout other parts of her body.

After receiving the news, Stacie decided to fight! She did chemo and radiation, but in August 2021 they discovered the cancer had moved to her brain, requiring whole brain radiation. That treatment proved very successful, but Stacie will remain on treatment forever.

Understandably, this would all be extremely hard to take for anyone, Stacie however decided to do something amazing!

Stacie had always wanted to be a writer, and more than ten years ago, had written a book called “ The Dryer Troll” just for fun. After her diagnosis, she decided to finally have it published. She wanted it to be sort of a legacy to leave for her children, something they could remember her by and be proud of!

The Dryer Troll is a cute book  about a troll that lives in the dryer and steals socks and is now available for sale on amazon, with Stacie donating  a portion of sale towards metavivor organization for breast cancer research.

Today,  between being a homeschooling mom, a wife, treatments, scans and tests, Stacie  also writes articles for advancedbreastcancer.net as a cancer advocate.

Macaroni Kid North Brevard would like to sincerely thank Stacie for sharing her amazing inspiring story with us, showing us all that when challenging news gets us down, we do not have to stay there! We can choose to make positive differences in the world, no matter what! We are all behind you in your fight Stacie!

If you would like to support Stacie’s mission, her super cute book can be purchased for $9.99 here!
